Bitter Melon – This herb has had more than just a few studies observing its effect on blood sugar levels. There are three different substances with anti-diabetic properties called charantin, vicine, and lectin. The first two are known to have a blood glucose-lowering effect while the third substance helps work on tissues of the body and also assists in suppressing the appetite. And though it has been studied mostly for use in blood sugar issues, Bitter Melon may also promote a healthy liver and gallbladder, nourish the skin, or assist the body in dealing with symptoms associated with kidney stones.Yes, life is sweet, but if it gets too sweet you have some herbs to help balance you out.
